Our saw mill in Holden, LA produces lumber used in residential construction. The saw filer position sharpens and maintains saws and knives used in the manufacture of our lumber products.
Key Functions:
Candidates selected for this position will learn to bench and grind band saws, hammer and sharpen carbide saws, troubleshoot and work on filing equipment, and align sawmill equipment. Pay for this position will be up to $20.89 depending on qualifications.

Requirements:
Must have:
High school education - vocational school courses preferred
Mechanical background and aptitude.
Interest in and be willing to learn saw filing trade - knives/circle saws/band saws.
Knowledge to use precise measuring equipment, i.e., micrometers and dial indicators, etc.
Good communication skills.
Willingness to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts - weekends and holidays as necessary.
Have a good work record - safety and dependability.
Self-motivated and able to follow instructions precisely.
Be able to read, write and follow specific printed directions.
Ability to troubleshoot lumber for quality and size control.
Willing to commit to training that will require personal time for self-study materials.
Understanding of machine alignment procedures, metal working skills and machine shop skills are preferred. Previous saw filing experience is strongly preferred.
